Mr. Jimmy Gordon Key, age 71, of McCaysville, GA, passed away on April 23, 2017 in Chattanooga, TN. Born in McCaysville, GA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cleo Collins Key. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a retired Lineman working for the Tennessee Valley Authority. Mr. Key was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sonja Smith Key of the home; sister, Jude Ferrier of WA; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
