Billy Joe Barnes, age 81, of Ducktown, TN passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017. Mr. Barnes was a native of Polk County and was a son of the late Joe Winston and Willie Cole Barnes He was a member of Mine City Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer for many years. He had worked for the Local Chemical Company as a Machinist and was a U.S.Army Veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Dilbeck Barnes of the home; and a host of family and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 7: PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Dilbeck and Rev. Keith Smith officiating. A eulogy will be given Terry Abernathy. Music will be by the Mine City Trio. Pallbearers will include Dwight Dilbeck, Tim Dilbeck, Luke Dillard, Stevie Abercrombie, Nick Dilbeck and Jake Dilbeck. The gentlemen of the Mine City Baptist Church along with Glynn Dilbeck, Jeremy Dilbeck and Larry Kimsey will serve as an honorary escort. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery Friday, January 6, 2017. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
