Mr. Lester Thomas, age 94, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Fannin County, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Orlando. Born on July 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Carl and Bessie Earley Thomas. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned his own business selling used cars.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Dillard Thomas, of Orlando; son, Dave Thomas, of Orlando; grandchildren, Debbie (David) Pillsbury, Donna (John) Richard, Carla Thomas, Shane Thomas, and Shianne Thomas; Nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Justin Fusiliery, Shane Thomas, Matthew Grant, Colin Dear, John Richard, and Chase Coolidge. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
