Mr. James “Loyd” Meers: Obituary

James “Loyd” Meers, age 80 of Suches, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at his home, following a brief illness. Loyd was born September 15, 1935 in Fannin County, to the late Clifford Meers and Ruby Bramlett Meers. James Loyd Meers married Shirley Shelton in 1957 and moved to Marietta, GA where they lived for 29 years. While in Marietta, he was employed by Apex Supply Company and worked there until his retirement in 1985. He then moved back to Fannin County and worked at Arbor Acres Farms for 15 years, until they closed. He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby sister.

Survivors include: Wife of 59 years, Shirley Shelton Meers, Daughter, Elaine (John) Judsky of Powder Springs, GA. Daughter, Joy Meers of Flowery Branch, GA. Grandchildren, Mathew (Kristin) Judsky of Acworth, GA. Jennifer (Justin) Goodridge of Marietta, GA. and Nathan Judsky of Marietta, GA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Kurt Wetzel officiating. Music provided by Chigel & Hubert Legg. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemeteryon Skeenah Gap Road.

Pallbearers: Matt Judsky, Nathan Judsky, Justin Goodridge, Vaughn Morris, Steve Morris, Harold Payne, William Lee, Dwight Reed & Bill Harkins.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
