JoAnn Davila, age 78, of Copperhill, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22 2016. She retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company after many years of service. She was a devoted daughter and mother, as well as a loving grandmother. She enjoyed bird watching from her kitchen window. Although she was allergic to dogs and cats she always had a stray outside on her porch that she felt she had to feed. She was an independent woman her entire life. She never wanted anyone to take care of her, but she took care of everyone else even when it wasn’t her responsibility. She is preceded in death by parents, Walter and Willie Bandy; sisters, Mildred Coleman, Doris Dockery, and Sue West, and special niece, Sandra Newman.
She is survived by her only daughter, Margaret Davila Buckner, and granddaughter, Katie Buckner. She is also survived by caregiver and loving niece, Denise Queen, and husband Sean, as well as former caregiver and niece, Becky Callihan, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 24th at 8:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel, with Rev. Terry Callihan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 PM until the funeral hour at 8:00 PM. Graveside services will follow Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 A.M from the Macedonia (Wolf Creek) cemetery. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
