• if i had children going to sckool there. they would be pull out and home schooled. maybe just move all together. just plane wrong. everybody having to change for a hand full of people. what happen to the morjarity rules?

  • Mr. Corn, you sure need a dictionary and spellcheck if you plan to "home school." Besides the inferior education, all you home schooler types do seem to double down on the old [hate-driven] ways of viewing a world that doesn't exist---all white, male dominated, racist, women hating, anti-government, anti-science, anti-eduation, ….and now anti-bathroom. Why not just stay home?

    On a serious note, maybe you and all these others obsessed with people simply going to the bathroom can get help. Where is the perverse obsession coming from, GOP? Fox News? Fear of your own "down there"?

    The rest of the world goes to the bathroom, and doesn't have to hurl hate at others for no reason. You confuse child molesters like the convicted GOP Congress Speaker of the House Denny Hastert, and the many evangelical Christian perverts who get caught committing crimes and sex acts. LGBT people aren't perverts, except to you sex obsessed haters.

    Why not read some science--peer reviewed, evidence based science--about the ever increasing incidence of hormonal chaos that is found in children: male-female sex organs, hermaphroditism, increasing surgeries for necessary sex changes. This won't increase you hater's compassion for others, but it'll give you something to obsess and spew you hate of otters over. Keep spraying those poisons, and your "grand young 'ins" can be LGBT too.

    • I find this very interesting! People, such as yourself, openly attack people like Mr. Corn and yet you claim that you are the "tolerant" ones. You just put on display the attitude and character of where you stand. Thank you for letting everyone know who the intolerant people truly are.
      I appreciate and fully acknowledge your right to express your freedom of speech; however, just remember that everyone else in this country has the exact same right. Also, I don't know how you arrived at the conclusion that Mr. Corn or anyone else is automatically classified as "all white, male dominated, racist, women hating, anti-government, anti-science, anti-eduation". I would push you to stop judging people as quickly as you claim they judge people.
      Last, I noticed a few things but will point out two. 1) "spew you hate of otters over" 2) "anti-eduation". I think you need to get a dictionary and spell check just as much as anyone else.

    • I believe the one "obsessed with going to the bathroom" would be the one that's caused all this nonsense over what toilet they're most comfortable on and where that toilet is. And they won't use a single private bathroom because that too is singling them out and "discriminating" against them. Why would ANYONE continue to complain when they have a place to use the bathroom in private? I know I would have loved to be able to use a private bathroom, and I'm sure the majority of most humans would agree. And why is the bathroom the most important priority for the transgenders? They should be more focused on their actual education & learning. Do kids visit the public school restroom primarily for (a)biological or (b)emotional reasons? How is it fair at all that everyone's focused on the comfort of a trans, when they insist on having it no other way but IN the girls restroom, the same as all the other girls. Where is the consideration of all the natural born females feelings about this, and their comfort and privacy?? Does the trans or anyone else care about others?? It is a direct violation of their privacy rights. So, to the mystery student, it's a lot more beneficial to put this kind of effort, trouble, & time into thinking more about your future, your education, instead, ALL of your emphasis is on where you want to use the bathroom, mind you, one might spend 10-13 minutes total in a day, if that, using the toilet during school!! And consider some respect for your peers' rights and comfort, as you are demanding & insisting that you get your way at the cost of others' rights and especially the privacy of others.

      Dr. Paul R. McHugh, is a brilliant former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has written more than 125 peer-reviewed medical journal articles and has published six scholarly books. When it comes to former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner’s recent changes, he has things to say which will make liberals furious!

      McHugh reaffirms the obvious – changing the sex of a human is not possible. And, instead of a liberating sexual movement, those who think they are transgender are actually suffering from a life-destroying mental disorder. Wow!

      Take a look at what he has to say…

      While the Obama administration, Hollywood and major media such as Time magazine promote transgenderism as “normal,” said Dr. McHugh, these “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.”

      “This intensely felt sense of being transgendered constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken – it does not correspond with physical reality,” McHugh wrote. “The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes.”

      The transgendered person’s disorder, said Dr. McHugh, is in the person’s “assumption” that they are different than the physical reality of their body, their maleness or femaleness, as assigned by nature. It is a disorder similar to a “dangerously thin” person suffering anorexia who looks in the mirror and thinks they are “overweight,” said McHugh.

      This assumption, that one’s gender is only in the mind regardless of anatomical reality, has led some transgendered people to push for social acceptance and affirmation of their own subjective “personal truth,” said Dr. McHugh. As a result, some states – California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts – have passed laws barring psychiatrists, “even with parental permission, from striving to restore natural gender feelings to a transgender minor,” he said.

      The pro-transgender advocates do not want to know, said McHugh, that studies show between 70% and 80% of children who express transgender feelings “spontaneously lose those feelings” over time. Also, for those who had sexual reassignment surgery, most said they were “satisfied” with the operation “but their subsequent psycho-social adjustments were no better than those who didn’t have the surgery.”

      “And so at Hopkins we stopped doing sex-reassignment surgery, since producing a ‘satisfied’ but still troubled patient seemed an inadequate reason for surgically amputating normal organs,” said Dr. McHugh.

      The former Johns Hopkins chief of psychiatry also warned against enabling or encouraging certain subgroups of the transgendered, such as young people “susceptible to suggestion from ‘everything is normal’ sex education,” and the schools’ “diversity counselors” who, like “cult leaders,” may “encourage these young people to distance themselves from their families and offer advice on rebutting arguments against having transgender surgery.”

      Dr. McHugh also reported that there are “misguided doctors” who, working with very young children who seem to imitate the opposite sex, will administer “puberty-delaying hormones to render later sex-change surgeries less onerous – even though the drugs stunt the children’s growth and risk causing sterility.”

      Such action comes “close to child abuse,” said Dr. McHugh, given that close to 80% of those kids will “abandon their confusion and grow naturally into adult life if untreated ….”

      This sort of shocking life change should not be celebrated. We should have great sympathy for people struggling with this illness, as it is quite bizarre to willingly go through such massive surface-level changes.

  • First off, we are a democratic republic, NOT a majority rules democracy. This is to ensure that all citizens of the nation can enjoy all rights afforded to citizen. Not just a majority. Now, if you really think this is such an issue. By all means, home school. But first investment, buy a dictionary.

• While I certainly respect the school boards proactive stance on transgender bathrooms, I think this discussion is premature. Children, of any grade level, can be confused as to gender identification or sexual orientation. To spend already stretched tax dollars on a restroom is counterproductive. To that end, the school board should earmark as much of the funds received as possible for education and not transgender restrooms. Let this issue be settled in other courts and the defense be funded by other county school boards. Let's keep our money in our schools for education and not for making ridiculous case law!

• This is stupid! I am from Fannin. My family has been here for 8 generations. I graduated from Fannin. I know all of the local people, and everything. It's a small town. Don't come up here, and try to change our town! We are country people. Go somewhere else and do this junk.

• I think this is a great movement in the right direction. I never thought Fannin County would be one of the first schools from around here to move into this direction! Shout out to Fannin for trying to make everyone feel comfortable.

• What is wrong with the world? They have taken God out of everything! We can't pray in school but it's OK to have transgender bathrooms? No! If this sinning garbage passes I can assure everyone that there will be many parents including my husband and I that will pull our children out of school! Who ever has started this junk needs to go back to wherever they came from and keep this out of our county. And should definitely do some praying.

  • This has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the fact the this is a public institution therefore no religion is involved in any policy making. Everyone has got to take care of their bodily functions and I see no issue with there only being one restroom where no matter what sex or indintification can handle their business in an appropriate manner.

  • Prayer has not been removed from the school's. It just can't be lead by an employee receiving state/federal funds.

    However, the big question is which religion get's to lead prayer? Majority does not rule. A moment of silence is good, that way everyone could say their own prayer, that coincides with their belief and not be forced into another person's religious views.

    Why exactly do you need prayer in school? Isn't that something that should be taught at home by parents.

• If using your god to base your opinion is considered a good argument, I'd like for the school to stop serving pork. The Bible says not to eat it, so why is the school allowed to serve it? Also, the school shouldn't let divorced teachers work there. And expel students who braid their hair, wear gold, or wear polyester. My reasoning? Mark 10:9, 1 Timothy 2:9, Leviticus 19:19, and Leviticus 11:8. All reasonable requests, right?

  You people need to realize how ridiculous you sound when your argument is that god won't like it. Because, according to the Bible, god hates a lot of things. Does that mean everyone should follow the rules above, or others in the Bible that are a little too ridiculous to even consider following? No. A lot of the people in this area believe all will be forgiven if you just accept Jesus. Can't we just leave it at that?

  Also, who cares what bathroom people use? Please tell me how this affects anyone in a negative way. Because I don't get it.

  • Leviticus is chock full of judgmental nonsense that we should act in in the name of hate, if we weren't endowed with reason. Some aren't so well endowed, and just obsess with hate. Reason, or at least critical thinking, is supposed to be taught, and the Southern Highlands have a history of holding back on education.

    If it's only about the Babble, why not eliminate pork?, and divorced teachers and government employees? And thieves, and liars and adulterers?

    And 'render unto Ceasar' and revoke all those tax cuts that threaten school and government funding. That change alone---everyone paying a fair share, or as the Bible says, those who have been given much, owe more--why, that would buy a private privy for every bathroom obsessed hater in area.

You explain to me why my 12 year old daughter should be concerned about going into her school bathroom and afraid of some sick pervert pretending that he wants to be a she when all he wants to do is ruin her future with the unthinkable. Apparently you do not have children. I do and I will do whatever is needed to protect my child. And GOD help the one who does it. This is a positive way.

    • Most transgender people are NOT out to hurt your daughter. If someone wanted to go into the restroom and hurt a child, they will do it regardless of whether or not they're allowed to be in there.Transgender people were born in the wrong body. All they want to do is pee where they're comfortable. They aren't letting men into the women's restroom and women into the men's. They are letting ALL women in the women's room and ALL men into the men's room.

    • I agree that your 12-year-old daughter shouldn't have to worry. But unfortunately, bad things happen to everyone. It's just the way the world works, and this bathroom situation doesn't change anything. If the school says that only those born as biological women are allowed in the girl's restroom, what will they do to enforce it? And who's to stop someone from assaulting your child in the restroom, man or woman? A door and some cameras have never stopped anyone before.

      People like you are disgusting, and I feel sorry for your child. If you are uncomfortable with something, just say it. Don't use your child as an excuse for your lack of compassion or understanding. Anything that could have happened to your child would have happened anyway.

      Besides, I thought your god never gave anyone more than they could handle, and that it was all part of his plan? Ignore the school's bathroom policy and let god handle it.

• What if this was your child? Religious considerations aside, because trust me just because you "identify" as Christian or go to church, does not mean you won't be gender confused or gay or any other thing that has people so irate. This is about somebody's CHILD, or sister or brother or grandchild. Separation of church and state is a real thing. Public, (state and federally funded) schools cannot allow one religious view determine their policy. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree, the school has to follow the law or risk losing their funding.

• If your going to home school because of restroom sharing, then I can assume you have separate male/female bathrooms in your homes?

  • Nope same bathrooms at my home, please God come into one of them and I promise the confusion will be gone!
