Mr. Van Glen Pope Jr. : Obituary

Mr. Van Glen Pope Jr., age 94 of Mineral Bluff passed away March 31, 2016 at his home. Mr. Pope was born October 9, 1921 in McCaysville, GA. A member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville, he was preceded in death by his parents Van Glen Pope Sr. and Maggie Ellis Pope, his wife Irene Cobble Pope, his sisters Gwen Walden, Pauline Parris, Arie Pruitt, Carie Harris, Ella Vee Dockery, and his brother Weldon Pope. Mr. Pope was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as manager of Higdon Howell Ford in Copperhill for many years. He was also member of the Shriners International, the Knights Templar, and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include: daughters Laura (Terry) Allen and Leigh (Weyland) Collins, nephew Norman Pope, niece Joyce (Tom) Forrester, grandchildren Joseph Elliot, Cory Allen, Jessica Elliot, Eric Allen, Samantha Williams and great-grandchild Kaylon Elliot.

Funeral services: Monday, April 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music provided by: Harry Gilbert. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, TN.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville Sunday, April 3, 2016, 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
