Mr. Alonzo “A.P.” Payne Garner, Jr. : Obituary

Alonzo “A.P.” Payne Garner, Jr. age 79 Years, of Steinhatchee FL passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. “A.P.” was born on January 14, 1937 to Alonzo Payne Garner, Sr. and Johnnie Lane Garner in Atlanta, GA. He had worked for AT&T as a supervisor. “A.P.” attended Lebanon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dorine Stevenson, Geneva Nalley and Betty Daniel.

He is survived by wife of forty-three years, Oneda Bradshaw Garner of Epworth, GA and Steinhatchee, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Payne and Debbie Garner of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter, Melody Lynn Griffith of Lewiston, NY; sisters, Maurice Ford of Athens, GA and Peggy Oliver of Mableton, GA; granddaughter, Jennifer Griffith; and grandsons, Cord Garner and Colt Garner.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David McLendon officiating. Music will be by Terry Brown. Pallbearers will be Elvin Brooks, James Bradburn, and Jerry Nalley. The family will receive friends at Lebanon Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
