FCMS REACH Georgia Scholars Visit State Capitol

Fannin County Middle School, REACH Georgia Scholars, were honored to attend a field trip to the Georgia State Capitol on Wednesday, March 2nd. Governor Nathan Deal and House of Representatives Speaker, David Ralston, met with this distinguished group of students. Governor Deal launched the REACH Program on February 6th, 2012.

On Wednesday, September 30th, 2015, the following five students made history, by becoming the first REACH Georgia Scholars for Fannin County: Harley Cox, Tasia Galloway, Joey Long, Chastity Seabolt and Alexis Ware. While meeting with the REACH Scholars on their trip to the Capitol, Governor Deal told the Fannin students he was proud of their selection to participate in the REACH program and urged them to continue working hard to succeed in school. He also thanked Mark Henson, Fannin County School Superintendent, for participating in the REACH program.

Following their meeting with the governor, the Fannin group was invited to the floor of the House of Representatives to meet with Speaker of the House, David Ralston, who said he was proud of their achievement and encouraged the students to continue their diligent efforts in school.
