Mrs. Shinpaugh’s 3rd grade math class has been learning about fractions. In order to connect fractions to real life, students were asked to build their own pizza using their favorite toppings. Then, students were able to create a key describing the toppings they chose to put on the pizza. Many students also gave examples of equivalent fractions as well as compare the different toppings. Blue Jean’s Pizza owner Ken Brenneman was very gracious to donate pizza boxes for each student to complete the project and a parent cut out all the toppings.
