Mrs. Leona Mae Coleman: Obituary

Mrs. Leona Mae Coleman, age 87 of Turtletown, TN passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the Copper Basin Medical Center. She was born on March 5, 1928 in Postelle, Polk County, TN to the late Frank and Mae Bell Howard Martin. Mrs. Coleman had worked at Khromx in OH assembling housewares. She was a member of the Turtletown Baptist Church. Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death of her husband, Lonas D. Coleman, step-father, Gus Mealer and brother, Kenneth Mealer.

Survivors are her sister, Sandra Walden of Turtletown, TN; nieces and nephews, Darris and Gail Mealer of Turtletown, TN, Teresa DeWease (Phillip) of Greenville, SC, Bill Cook of Cleveland, TN and Helen Distin of Destin, FL also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. Ray Harper officiating. Music will be by Janice Reid. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Goode, Jesse Goode, Jacob Goode, Neil Picklesimer, Darris Mealer and Tim McArthur. Honorary Pallbearers will be Beauford Kidd, Ronnie Hensley and Johnny Nix. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome. Com.
