BRES Holds Jump Rope for Heart Event

Jump Rope for Heart event benefiting the American Heart Association was held back on Oct 21 and 22.
All students participated in Jumping Stations during Physical Education class. Students wore pedometers to keep track of the number of steps and jumps they took. Some students accomplished thousands of steps/jumps in the timespan of 1 class period. Students were taught the importance of keeping a healthy heart and the risk factors associated with heart disease. Most students realized that they knew someone personally who has been affected by Heart Disease in some way. Students also learned that there are many healthy choices that they can make to help prevent or reverse heart disease.

BRES ended up raising $2,397.29 for the American Heart Association. Their top fundraiser for the American Heart Association was 5th grader was Simone O’neal.
