FCHS Key Club Donates to NGMCN

Last week, as part of Homecoming Week festivities, the FCHS Key Club hosted a Copper Silver War among classes. Silver change and dollars added to each class’s total amount, while pennies negated from the total. The Copper Silver War was one of many spirit competitions throughout the week in which students participated.

Each year, the money raised through the Copper Silver War is donated to a charitable cause or organization. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month; therefore, we decided to donate this year’s proceeds to the North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network.

Students competed spiritedly all week but took the competition to a whole new level by Friday. Donations were accepted through lunch, and then counted so results could be revealed during the afternoon Pep Rally. The Junior Class was the overall winner of the Copper Silver War, having the largest total amount of all four classes. In total, FCHS students raised $1175 to donate to the North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network!

Prior to the Homecoming Game, Key Club officers and members met with Christina Cioffi, Executive Director and Julie Welch, Shelter Facility Manager to present the donation.
