Johnny Worthey: Obituary

Mr. Johnny Worthey, age 73, of Farner, TN, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Mr. Worthey was born in Farner to the late John Avery and Lula Taylor Worthey. He had worked with the Tennessee Chemical Company as a Repairman and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed fishing as a hobby. He was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Gary Cox and Homer Hicks.

He is survived by his ex spouse, Shirley Jean Worthey of Benton, TN; sons, Alvin Lee Worthey of Benton, TN, Avery (Loretta Kelly) Worthey of Benton, TN, Max Austin (Dorothy Ann) Worthey of Benton, TN; brothers, Rev. James Avery (Kathy) Worthey of Farner, TN, Hoyt (Joyce) Worthy of Farner, TN; sisters, Velvie (Randall) Mantooth , Elsie Cox and Willa Mae Hicks, all of Cleveland, TN; three grandchildren, Lora Jean Miller, Dana Trentham and Crystal Genrty; two great-grandchildren, Lily Anne Miller and Kaylee Clark.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 8th at 8:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Josh Ledford officiating. Music will be by Carol Thomasson. Pallbearers include, Anthony Worthy, Tim Worthey, Dawson Worthey, Robert Worthey, Hoyt Taylor and Chris Higdon. Interment will follow Friday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. from the New Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Farner, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 8:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
