Daily Prayer: 08/27

“If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:26-27.Lord Jesus, there is so much worthless religion that is promoted in your name. It often is filled with rancor rather than love. The tongue is used to curse rather than to bless, to manipulate rather than to minister.

Help us to purify our faith by putting it into practice so that what we say we believe is lived out in deeds and not just in words.

Bless this person who thinks on these truths and grant joy in believing and doing today.
