Daily Prayer: 07/29

Proverbs 23:29-32 “Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine; those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.”

O God, we are concerned for those who are addicted to alcohol and drugs. These bring pain to the individual and heartache to their family. They steal the family’s resources, take away straight thinking, and leave one with a body in deterioration. Although these deaden the senses temporarily for the user, they leave him or her in deeper pain than before.

We thank you for those who climb out of the pit and regain stability in their lives. We praise you for what AA has done to help so many and for the various faith- based programs that have rescued countless thousands from their wretchedness.

If this person who now prays has an addict in his or her family, help this one to never give up on the recovery that is possible through Christ.

Amen.
