The Fannin County Board of Education held its regular meeting on July 9th, 2015.
The Fannin County Board of Education began the meeting with remarks from Mr. Henson regarding the Splost intake for May this year. Mr. Henson announced it was more than the surrounding counties and a record number. The Board members are looking forward to seeing numbers from July!
The Fannin County School System approved a new board policy on Bullying to include cyber bullying. Now electronic data is included whether the act originates on school property or is done using school equipment.
A new weapons policy is in place is in place as well. It appears there is a more common sense approach in place when reporting weapons. Also a new update on the school medication policy will now include the administration of levalbuteraol to a student in respiratory distress regardless if the student has a prescription. This may be a life saving change since certain circumstances may be life threatening if not responded to immediately.
A bid was accepted to upgrade the Fannin County Baseball Field with the contract of $139,000 going to Reliant Construction out of Alpharetta and Fannin County High School will also resurface the track with a bid $361,250 going to Competition Athletic Surfaces Inc. out of Chattanooga Tennessee.
