Mr. Hoyt Holloway: Obituary

Mr. Hoyt Holloway, age 75, of Morganton, GA passed away June 23, 2015 in Cobb County, GA. Mr. Holloway was born on October 21, 1939 in Cherry Log, GA. He owned and operated automobile service stations in the area for many years. Hoyt had been a major Real estate Developer and Poultry Farmer since the 1980’s. He was a founding member of Peoples Bank that later formed United Community Bank. He had also served on the Board of Directors since its formation until his retirement. He and his wife attended the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Callihan Holloway.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Pittman Holloway of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Hoyt Holloway and his wife Katy Holloway of Blue Ridge; Tracy Holloway and his wife Carrie Holloway of Blue Ridge; and Jeffrey Holloway and his wife Heather Holloway of Morganton, GA; father, Clay Holloway of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Avery Holloway, Will Holloway, Anna Holloway, Carlee Holloway and Lindsey Holloway, all of Blue Ridge; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Judy Holloway of Blue Ridge, GA; special cousin, Sybil Norton of Ellijay, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 12:00 noon from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Eulogy will be by Mike Pittman. Music will be provided by Judy Cheyne and Rachel Rennick. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Avery Holloway, Will Holloway, Pat Holloway, Brandon Holloway, Ryan Holloway and Mario Ruiz Espinoza. The following have been selected to serve as an honorary escort: Joe Sisson, Jim Sisson, Kenny Norton, Tom Wright, Rodney Weeks, Russell Ware, Jack Jones, Norman Kaye, Marty Godfrey, Pat Williams, Gene Hitchcock, Andy Arp, Norman Barfield, David Collett, and Charles Holloway, members of the UCBI Board of Directors who served with Hoyt: Jimmy Tallent, W.C. Nelson, Robert H Blalock, Guy W. Freeman, Robert L. Head, Jr., Clarence W. Mason, Sr., the Honorable Zell Miller, and Tim Wallis, and all other former and current Board of Directors for United Community Bank.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m. Memorial Contributions in Memory of Hoyt may be made to the Building Fund of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church at P.O.
