Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

Jesus the Christ, you are our Lord and Master. We are your servants. Help us not to allow anything to take priority in our lives over you. You had so much to say about the insidious power of material possessions to dominate our thoughts. We do not want our possessions to possess us.

We thank you for those things that you give us to meet our needs and to make life enjoyable. But no thing or any amount of money can satisfy the deep desires of our hearts. May we be single minded in our devotion so that we can love you supremely.

So much of our time and effort is taken up with earning our living but we do not serve the money we make. If we do it can be a tyrannical work master.

Bless this person who now prays with the freedom to live!
