Mr. Howard Edwin Long, age 76, of Suches, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at Emory St. Josephs Hospital in Atlanta.He was born February 18, 1939 in Ellijay, GA to the late Simond Lewis Long and the late Ada Panter Long. He was a member of Salem #1 Baptist Church, a retired electrical contractor who enjoyed raising cattle and travel. He was a wonderful husband father and grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by grandson, Bryan Edward Long.
Survivors include: wife of 57 years, Shirley Long, daughter, Angela Gail (James, Jr.) Helton, son, Billy Lee (Lisa Jane) Long, son, Jerry Edward (Kathy) Long, daughter, Robbie Sue Long, brother, James Harold (Marie) Long, grandchildren, Stephanie Nicole Long, Misti Beth Foster, Matthew Edwin Jordan, Jennifer Anne Helton and Evanston David Long, great grandchildren, Haley Odom, Bryson Odom and Caleb Foster.
Funeral services: Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Salem #1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Saturday, May 2, 2015, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
