The Fannin County High School Rebels baseball team closed the season with a 16-1 loss to Region 7-AAA champion, Franklin. Fannin finished the season with a record of 9-14.The Franklin Lions roared early, scoring eight runs in the top of the first inning. The bottom of the first saw the home team go three up and three down.
Things got worse for the Rebels as the Lions added five more runs in the top of the second to take a 13-0 lead into the bottom of the inning. The bottom of the second saw the same result, as the Rebels went down in three straight at bats.
The Fannin defense forced Franklin to finish the top of the third with no more runs scored, and the Rebels offense responded with the first Fannin score of the night in the second half of the inning.
Will Farmer led off with a single. Defensive indifference moved him to second. Three batters later Logan Holt drove Farmer in with a two out RBI single.
The Top of the fourth and fifth innings resulted in the Lions putting up one and two more runs respectively. The game was called after the fifth with the Lions leaving with the 16-1 victory.
