On March 31, West Fannin Elementary School was honored to have TVA teach fifth grade students about water as a part of the World Water Monitoring Challenge.Vicki Valentine, Water Quality Expert with TVA, instructed students on how to test water samples from the Toccoa River to determine pH level, dissolved oxygen, temperature and turbidity. The data collected will be entered into the World Water Monitoring website so that comparisons can be made with local water and other water sources around the world. TVA donated materials for this educational experience.
Blue Ridge Elementary, East Fannin Elementary and West Fannin Elementary School also received a generous donation from TVA that totaled $1000.00 to benefit STEM education.
West Fannin Elementary School would like to thank TVA for their ongoing support of their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects.
