Fannin County Fire Department responded to 500 Blk. of Church Street to the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival of E-1 and Medic 6 firefighters found flame impingement from a propane gas line on the B-C corner of the residence and a second flame impingement on the propane tank approximately 30 feet from the residence. Firefighters shut off the propane supply at the propane tank which extinguished both flame impingements. Firefighters checked residence for extension finding a wall heater had been blown off the wall and also finding smoldering wood in the crawl space. Firefighters removed charred wood and fully extinguished all hot spots. Cause of the fire appeared to be a lightning strike in the vicinity of the propane tank. All units then returned to service.
