Lura “Jean” Calhoun, age 73 of Murphy, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 30, 2015, in Murphy, NC.She was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1941 in Mineral Bluff, GA to the late James Harlo and Adele Bandy Harris. Mrs. Calhoun retired from the Mars Company in Cleveland, TN. She was a member of New Hope Holiness Church. Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Calhoun; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Duggan; brothers, David Williams, Michael Harris and James “Buddy” Harris.

Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Darlene Calhoun of Cleveland, TN and Jeff and Denise Calhoun of Old Fort, TN, brothers and sisters-in-law, T.J. Harris and Ann of Murphy, NC, James Harlo Harris, Jr. and Debbie of Murphy, NC, Haril Harris and Dale of Murphy, NC and Bill Harris and Sherry of Blue Ridge, GA, sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Watson and Joe of Byron, GA and Judy Queen and Leon of Murphy, NC; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Brother John Prater and Brother Jeremy Tipton officiating. Music will be by New Hope Church Singers. Pallbearers will be Jesse Harris, Tony Queen, Billy Standridge, Terry Harris, Junior Collins and Jamie Beavers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of New Hope Holiness Church. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Moores Chapel Cemetery, Cleveland, TN with Rev. Charles Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Calhoun may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Boulevard NE, Suite 10 Atlanta, GA 30345.
