MEC Takes Field Trip to Cabela’s

On Wednesday, March 18 a group of students from Mountain Education Charter High School went on a field trip to Cabela’s Outdoor Store in Acworth, Georgia. The trip was put together by Mrs. Martinez, their school counselor. Students at MEC have been exploring the natural resource industry and had a game warden recently in as a speaker. The students browsed through the store and had the marketing director talk to them about possible future careers in the outdoors. The speaker explained the economics of a retail career and what it takes to not only work at Cabela’s but also what it takes to work in the outdoors as an outfitter, a manager, or as an engineer. She also took time to enlighten the students on the history of Cabela’s and how they select their store sites. It was a good trip and an incredible learning experience!
