Rebels Tame Tigers

Saturday was a perfect day for spring baseball as the Fannin Rebels hosted the Dawson Tigers for three games. A JV doubleheader and one varsity game. The Rebels JV squad split the doubleheader losing the first game 5-3, and coming back to win the second game 8-4. For the varsity starting pitcher, Will Shirah also became the winning pitcher. Shirah pitched four full innings throwing 75 pitches and leaving the game up 8-2. The Rebel held on for an 8-4 victory.Dawson Sparks lead off the bottom of the fourth with a walk. Followed by an infield hit from Shirah. Shirah ran out the throw to first putting runners on first and second with no outs. After Hunter Rice struck out attempting to bunt, Jacob Reece cleared the fence with a three run home run, giving the Rebels its final runs of the day. Now it was time to hold the Tigers.

Reece went to the mound to start the top of the fifth. He would not have quite the day on the mound as he had at the plate. Throwing only six pitches he hit the first batter and walked the second. Head coach, David Dyer, made a quick decision and called on big sophomore River Dixon (Big Davie Wells). Dixon got three outs leaving two Tigers stranded and dashed the Tigers hopes of a big inning.

Dawson added a run in the sixth and one in the seventh. River would throw 53 pitches in three innings and secure the win 8-4.
