Mr. James “Jim” Preston Parker, age 81, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at his home.Mr. Parker was born on May 10, 1933 in White, GA to the late John Henry Parker and Tilda Ann Cox Parker. He was retired from Rich’s Department Store where he worked in furniture sales. He was a member and deacon of Cornerstone Baptist Church and had served as a Baptist deacon for 37 years. He restored furniture for many years. Mr. Parker was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edna G. Parker of Blue Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Maria Genia Parker of Cocoa, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Edward Zieseniff of Dunwoody, GA; brothers, Tommy Parker and Buddy Parker, both of Fairmont, GA and Roy Parker of Adairsville, GA; sister, Jeannie Griffin of Fairmont, GA; four grandchildren, Melisa Parker, Winston Douglas II, Abigail Zieseniff, and Emily Zieseniff; and one great grandchild, Shirley Parker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Chris Harrington and Dr. Paul Mims officiating. Pallbearers will be Roy Parker, Johnny Griffin, Winston Douglas, II, Edward Zieseniss, Jr., Stuart Spetseriss, and Elliot Ozell. Interment will follow in Colwell Church Cemetery with military honors provided by North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
