Mrs. Jessilyn Marie Knight-Rock: Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Jessilyn Marie Knight-Rock, 60, of Blairsville, who passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home.Jessilyn was born in Columbus, Georgia, on October 16, 1954, a daughter of Marie Collins Knight and the late Jesse Knight. Jessilyn had lived in Blairsville for most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. She was a graduate of Young Harris College and North Georgia College and State University (now University of North Georgia), with a specialist degree as an elementary school teacher. She was a singer, and a member of Irons in the Fire Band in Murphy. Always happy with a smile for everyone, Jessilyn never met a stranger. She enjoyed time with friends and family, and was a great cook. She took pleasure in traveling and gardening.

Jessilyn’s smile will be missed by all who knew her, but her loving presence will especially be missed by her family: husband, Brian Rock, of Blairsville; mother, Marie Knight, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Brent Ion, of Palm Beach, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Colt and Cecile Wight; son, Justin Wight; daughter, Kalisa Wight, all of Asheville, North Carolina; and son, Makena Wight, of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Joyce Knight, of Marietta; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Carol Knight; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Cynthia Knight, all of Blairsville; and sister, Jennifer Carmichael of Crofton, Maryland; two grandchildren: Alienor Wight and Aulani Wight.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Family Life Center of Choestoe Baptist Church. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Alex Knight, Tommy Knight, William Rock, Brian Cronin, Ron Rock, and Rob Tiger. Burial will be in Choestoe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday, the same day of the funeral service, beginning at 12 noon.
