Mr. Herbert W. Green: Obituary

Mr. Herbert W. Green, age 85 of Blue Ridge, died February 13, 2015 at Erlanger Medical Center with his children standing by his bedside. Herbert was born February 15, 1929 in Fannin County, Georgia to the late James Jewel Green and the late Hattie Pitman Green.

Herbert was a loving husband and father. His Christian life is an example to all of his family and to all who knew him and loved him. He was untiring in his duties as a member and a deacon of Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church. His devotion to God, and to his family, was seen in his daily life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, son, Michael, brothers, Verlin Green, Walter Green, Hoyt Green and Raleigh Gray.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Junior Bowers of Blue Ridge, son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Sheila Green of Blue Ridge, brother, Cleaston Green, brother and sister-in-law Elmerine and Janey Gray of Blue Ridge, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00pm from the Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
