MEC Visits Merciers

Article submitted by Chris Martinez.

Mountain Education Charter High School students visited Mercier Orchards on Wednesday, January 28. Many times throughout the year students go on field trips to explore career options and the visit to Mercier’s was our latest outing. Although most of the students had been to Mercier’s before, this gave them the opportunity to see things from a different perspective. Tony Jones, the Deli Manager, gave the students a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen and outlying buildings. He talked about the variety of careers offered in the food industry, the history of Mercier’s, and his past culinary experiences. It was a very informative and interesting trip, and of course, it was capped off with their famous delicious fried pie!
