Exodus 20:13 The Sixth Commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”Gracious and ever living God, giver and taker of life, we pray for a deeper concept of human worth. You have made man Your chief creation and breathed into him the breath of life. Your value of a person is portrayed by Your great outreach in redemption. Human worth seems so cheap today. There is so much envy, hatred, bitterness, and greed that it festers into the outlashing of others and results in conflict. Jesus amplified this Commandment to teach us that unjust hatred is akin to murder. Search our hearts and see if there is any hatred at all, and forgive us if we have sinned. Teach us that as Your children we cannot be at odds with others and at peace with You.

We pray for peace in these troubled times. Our boys are dying daily on the battlefields in defense of freedom. Grant us, O God, peace in the Middle East. Give those who have temporal rule and authority over us the wisdom to handle these issues.

If this person before Your throne just now needs peace of heart, mind, and soul may this one find it through Christ, the one whom all conflicts can be settled.

Amen.
