Looking Back

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:I hate looking back except to look for pitiful examples of lost opportunities. But, this question hangs in the air like the essence of methane: Has the GOP leadership still not gotten the message? Are they incapable of making a decision that the base sent them there to make? Did the leadership not see the vast pro-life marches, rally’s and demonstrations all around this country on the occasion of the forty second anniversary of the still unconstitutional Roe vs. Wade? WTF, over?

To pull the vote on not allowing infanticide (baby murder) after twenty weeks, a pain test proving the infant is viable, is to once again slap their social base in the face and, in effect, tell us they know best. This vote was a no brainer. Americans oppose late-term abortions, period. The new Senate was ready to pass it and yet the House leadership collapses in the face of some argument about rape settled two years ago when the Republican House already passed the same bill. Even the House Democrats were ready to go along on this one but now, we have given them an argument against us.

This was an easy fight. If the Inglorious Bas___ds that make up the leadership cannot even move a simple bill like this one through a process, how are they going to move against Obamacare, corporate-welfare, the thieves in international banking, subsidies to unworkable ‘Green” programs Obama has indebted us to without collapsing in fear first?

That bunch of new representatives we sent up there had better start doing something to move the weakling leadership in the right direction or start planning a vote for strong leadership to replace them, if not for cowardice, then for incompetence. Term limits comes every two years for representatives and an alarmed base could make it happen.

Fingers are quickly being pointed at two GOP women representatives, Renee Ellmers of North Carolina and Jackie Walorski of Indiana, as responsible for dumping the vote. Maybe so, but its the leadership that makes votes happen and that two lone voices, like Ellmers and Walorski, who supported the bill two years ago, can bring the leadership to its knees is a shocking admission of total incompetence. They should be fired!

The growing pro-life movement has been betrayed before by the GOP. I think they expect it and I also think that this one was so easy that they couldn’t believe they would once again be left hanging. It is no secret that the pro-life movement is also closely bound to the tea party. The tea party is not dead, by any means, so look out GOP!

I suspect that because of the failure of the house to move this almost insignificant issue to a full house vote, Boehner and company will soon feel more heat they they could possibly expect, than from any other issue placed before them. If their whole base feels this a betrayal by the leadership then the leadership should prepare to lose significantly in the next election cycle. I hate looking back but, I told you so!

I like that the Speaker invited Netanyahu to address Congress but, that was easy! Let’s start doing the hard things like lead! Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (23 Jan 2015)
