Jeffery Barnes, age 48 of Hiawassee, passed away January 17, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.Mr. Barnes was born December 31, 1966 in Young Harris, GA to Van and Lula Bell Barnes. Jeffery was a member of the North Mt. Zion Church of God. He had worked for many years for the Georgia Department of Transportation with the Bridge Construction Crew. Jeffery was preceded in death by his father, Van Barnes.
Survivors include: wife, Shelby Jean Barnes, mother, Lula Bell Barnes, son, Joshua Wayne Barnes, son, Jacob Jeffery Barnes, Mother-in-Law, Margie Lovingood, Brother, Randy (Lorene) Barnes, Brother, Tim (Delores) Barnes, Brother, Danny Barnes, sister, Sandra Craig, all of Hiawassee, sister, Kathy (David) Griffin of Cumming, GA, and sister, Lisa (Robin) Bryans of Hayesville, NC.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday January 21st from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Glen Eller and Rev. Frank Rodriguez officiating. Music will be provided by Spirit Blessed. Interment will follow at a later date. Pallbearers: Sean Bryan, Blake Craig, Max Lovingood, Randy Barnes Jr., Jake Mullins, and Aaron Payne.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee Wednesday from 12-2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help offset funeral expenses.
