Obituaries

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the Funeral Services for Ms. Ruth N. Patterson, age 93, of Blairsville, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Union County Nursing Home.
Ruth was born November 24, 1921 in Blairsville Georgia to the late William & Lillie (Elliott) Patterson. An embodiment of the Ruth of the Bible, her faith and love was evident in all facets of her life.Having grown up during The Depression Era, Ruth relied on the promises of her favorite psalm; Psalm 23. Ruth was gifted with a servant’s heart and provided care to many family members and friends over the years, even learning the art and serving as a midwife. Having never bared children of her own didn’t matter much because she was considered “mother” by many who knew her and she loved them just the same. She was a precious lady and the family will cherish memories of biscuit & gravy morning wake ups and her famous fried apple pies.

She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her sister & brother-in-law, Geneva & Roy Cook along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives who share in her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings: Eugene Patterson, Anna Bell Patterson, Vada Lee “Pat” Tinnara, W.H. “Bill” Patterson, Ella Faye Payne, Herbert Patterson and Irene Davis.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Potts & Rev. DeWayne Patterson officiating. Music will be presented by The Faith Singers and DeLaina Payne. Special Remembrances will be shared by Henry Payne. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Matthew Payne, Michael Carroll, Wesley Carroll & Daniel Patterson. Honorary Pallbearers include: Henry Payne, Tim Roper, Raymond Payne & T.H. Payne. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
