Opinion by George McClellan:It is the cautious optimism of the base, at least those I speak with here in Georgia’s 9th CD, that over these next two years the course of government will be a rocky, contentious and exhausting to the base. Hopefully, all hope for a positive move to the ‘right’ but, alas, cautious pessimism suggests otherwise. We have lost trust in the leadership. The base actually expects, hope against hope, that the GOP leaders, Boehner and McConnell, will inevitably squander our 2014 election victory to their always more comfortable position of capitulation to the democrats, democrat programs, Big money and the Chamber of Commerce.

For example, the base does not anticipate any real movement by this bunch, despite the new blood we sent up there, to repeal the Unaffordable – No Care Act, aka: Obamacare. Instead, I hear mutterings that they can tinker with it to make it work. I hear no plan to defend our southern border with Mexico to stem the onrushing tide of disease ridden peasants storming our facilities, abusing our hospitality and living gratis on the American taxpayer. Neither do I hear them speaking of removing the burdens of excessive regulations now oppressing us, or reining in the spiraling debt or reducing the burdensome taxes that will ensures our penury.

Why are we guardedly optimistic? Because already, even before the new congress folks are sworn in our leaders voted for the CRomibus bill, authorizing spending for nearly a year before the subject can come up again. Already the leadership, suffering under the mistaken belief that we will continue to vote for them against any democrat, no matter what, are trying to create a ‘fait accompli’ for our acceptance of a moderate, centrist GOP. Within this year they will again reveal themselves as anti-base, by pushing the inevitability of a Jeb Bush as their choice for our presidential candidate.

We will have a good clue how the wind blows, on Jan 6th, when the new congress has a vote for leadership. Do we actually hear rumblings of a mutiny from inside the GOP caucus? Quite possibly but in any event, the leadership will find itself in daily battles with the new tea party members, that will distinguish the competing sides. Expect John McCain to run around in circles blathering about how the tea party is destroying the GOP. He misses the point of course, that’s the plan. During all this the real enemy, the Progressives, will sit back while licking their election wounds and watch the GOP tear itself apart. Sad, but this is a fight we must have. The status quo with entrenched leadership is no longer acceptable if America is to be saved.

Most problems congressmen face are exaggerated by the massive largess from major US and world financial institutions whose financial support goes to the winner de jour. Banks, etc., don’t care who wins so long as the party in power continues to make laws that maintains the flow of cash into their coffers, mostly money from the tax payers. External forces that affect this power struggle are found in governments reaction to the created problems of racism, income inequality, free healthcare for all, amnesty, fumbled foreign affairs, ineffective education and the continued ideas of supporting the nanny state.

All these problems are inimical to the best interests of a viable and healthy US. They are often supported by “moderates” politicians, a person with no values, no ideas, no convictions, except to stay in office, and no moral backbone to take a stand. Let’s throw the bums out. Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way, Now, go get ‘em! (5 Jan 2015).
