Fannin County High School Health Science students toured Riverstone Medical Campus on Wednesday, October 29th. Wayne Barth, Physical Therapist at Fannin Regional Rehabilitation Services took 90 Health Science students on a tour of the physicians groups and the Rehabilitation Center at Riverstone. The students enjoyed learning about the careers and services in Rehabilitation. Wayne Barth told the students “our goal is to help people regain their independence and improve their lives.” He told students about careers available to them in occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy. Some of the specialty services FCHS students learned about are custom orthotics and prosthetics fitting and training, sports retraining and conditioning, treatment of pediatric developmental and neurological disorders and swallowing disorders treatment.
Health Science students at Fannin County High School explore a variety of careers in healthcare to see what is the best fit for them. Both Health Science teachers, Anne Soriero, Registered Nurse and Mr. Jeremy King, Certified Athletic Trainer; are dedicated to connecting our students to the healthcare community in Fannin County and helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
