Leland P. Parve of Murphy, NC went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at home with family by his side.Leland was born December 25th,1933 in Milwaukee, WI. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Ruby Mae (Schuessler) Parve, three children, Lance (Julie) Parve, Laurene (Larry) Osieczonek, and Lennea (Wade) Maddaugh, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Leland was a born again Christian and was preceded in death by his son Lyndon Parve, his grandson Joshua Parve, his brothers Leroy (Esther) Parve and Lloyd Parve, his sister Lorraine (Gerald) Phillips and his mother Thelma (Havelin) Parve.
Leland enlisted and served in the Marine Corps for 3 years. He proudly worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad for 40 years as a Yard Conductor. He volunteered his time for 14 years at Lakewood Care Center in Milwaukee, WI., 9 years at Christian Love Ministries and 15 years at Murphy Nursing Home in Murphy, NC.
Leland played guitar, was an avid reader, did stonework, woodworking and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed birdwatching and botany. He was a bus tour guide in the ’96 Olympics and at ages 49, 50, and 51 ran 3 marathons. He could do anything he set his mind to. Most importantly, Leland loved his wife and family and always reached out to others.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 19th, 2014 at Mountain View Community Church with Pastor Jeff Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm, followed by the service at 3:00 pm.
