The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels have struggled recently falling to Dawsonville (11-4) and Cartersville (8-7); however, the Lady Rebels did upset 6AAAA school, Etowah, with a 7-6 win on the Lady Eagles’ home field.The Lady Rebels hosted the Lady Tigers of Dawson, with each team scoring a run in the second inning. Dawson took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third; however, Fannin took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the same inning with three runs scored.
Fannin held the lead until Dawson exploded with an eight run top of the seventh that the Lady Rebels could not answer, giving the Lady Tigers an 11-4 win.
The Lady Rebels clipped the Etowah’s Lady Eagles’ wings, despite giving up six runs in the top of the first inning, the only runs Etowah scored all game. The comeback started with two runs in the second and two more in the third.
A run in the fourth and two more in the fifth gave Fannin a 7-6 lead that the Lady Rebels rode out for the one run victory.
Fannin fell at Cartersville after falling behind early. The Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the first three innings before, the Lady Rebels cut the lead in half with two runs in the fourth. Another run in the top of the fifth cut the lead to one; however, three Lady Bulldogs’ runs in the bottom of the fifth pushed the lead up to 7-3.
Fannin tied the game in the top of the seventh but could not hold the lead and Cartersville won 8-7.
