Mr. Norman Lee Hawn, age 87, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home.Mr. Hawn was born in Hartford City, Indiana on January 4, 1927 to the late Albert, Sr. and Iva King Hawn. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Dye, Margaret Hawn, and Albert Hawn, Jr.

His life consisted of fifty three years in Hartford City, IN, eighteen years in Bonita Springs, FL and the final sixteen years was spent in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Hawn worked as a janitor at the Blackford County High School, and for twenty-three years he worked for the Overhead Door Company and later became a millwright in the iron industry. He was very proud of the almost 20 years that he volunteered his time along with his Dalmatian canine partner, Troubles, serving as Firefighters for the Hartford City Fire Department.

Norman loved his family, and was a devoted grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also had a deep love for all types of animals. He always took in stray cats and could get squirrels to trust him enough to feed from his hand.

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses Norman looked forward to the time when he will awaken from death on a paradise earth in a heathy, youthful condition to be reunited with his family and friends. At that time he will again enjoy all of God’s creations especially his favorite, the animals. (John 5:28-29; Isaiah 11:6-9; Job 33:25; Psalms 37:10-11, 29)

Mr. Hawn is survived by his wife, just celebrating their anniversary of 65 years,Virginia Hawn of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Ann and Edward Eggley of Blue Ridge, GA; brother-in-law, Thomas Wayne Sills of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Cherity (Larry) Breazeale, April (John) Hall, Matthew Eggley and Dustin (Melanie) Eggley; great grandchildren, Jordan and Tyler Breazeale, Trenton and Kendall Hall, Reece and Erin Eggley, and Brianna and Austin Eggley.

Memorial Services for Mr. Hawn will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 3:00 PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Daniel Allen officiating.
