Mrs. Pearl Abercrombie, age 91 of Mineral Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at her home.Mrs. Abercrombie was born March 17, 1923 in Mineral Bluff, GA to the late Andrew White and the late Rosie Farmer White. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, William Gober Abercrombie, one son, Richard Voyles, brothers and sisters, Wilburn White, Rufus White, Mary Postell, Delma Gibbs and Ruby Gordy Dalton. Pearl enjoyed quilting, reading, and tending flower gardens in her spare time. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Granny”.
Survivors include son, Clyde (Lona Mae) Voyles, son, James (Betty) Voyles, daughter, Rosa Lee (John) Northrop, son, Harry (Nancy) Abercrombie, daughter, Phyllis (Gene) Abercrombie Shields, step-son, Eugene Abercrombie, step-son, Gerald (Dorothy) Abercrombie, and step-daughter, Shirley (Carl) Harmon, 19 Grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren and special niece, Darlene Gordy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. and Rev. A.J. Heaton officiating. Music provided by Candi Gordy. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Robert Vivian, Brandon Voyles, Jamie Voyles, Jimmy Voyles, Jonathan Abercrombie, Jeffrey Voyles, and Steve Voyles.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
