Mr. Jimmie Alford Taylor, age 78 of Hiawassee, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his home with his loving family by his side.Mr. Taylor was born February 3, 1936, in Gastonia, NC to the late James Beulah Taylor and the late Verdia Hooper Taylor. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Blairsville, a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving in the Korean Conflict, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7807, a lifetime member of Vienna Masonic Lodge # 205 F&AM, and Imperial Council of Nolles Of The Mystic Shrine For North America. He retired from General Motors as a crane operator after thirty years of service, and enjoyed hunting, golfing and spending time with his friends at Hardees. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by brothers, James Franklin Taylor and Charles Ralph Taylor, sisters, Helen Louise Shytle and Elsie JoAnn Sanders.
Survivors include: wife, Oleta Taylor, daughter, Kimberly (Patrick) Morris, son, Tommy Taylor, son, Christopher (Ruth) Taylor, daughter, Robin (Jon) Mau, step-daughter Sherry Jones (Keith) Walker; step-son, Richard (Amanda) Jones and a very special daughter-in-law, Darlene Mava Taylor, sister, Shirley Ruth Carroll and Mary Taylor Brimer, brothers, Robert Max Taylor, Carson Taylor, and John Taylor. Ten grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
