The “Cruel Jewel” foot race will be held this weekend beginning on Friday and running through Sunday. The race course will take runners into the Aska, Hwy 60 South and Skeenah Gap areas of Fannin County as well as parts of Union County. Please be aware of the race as you travel the area this weekend and watch out for runners.

Dispatched to the above location for the report of a commercial structure fire. Caller advised that the fire was in the ceiling and had everyone out of the building at that time. First arriving units found that the building owner had used a dry chemical fire extinguisher on the fire that was outside near the lights in the soffit area of the roof. Used chainsaw to open an area in the ceiling to access the area that was burning and put out any hot spots. Fire out and all units returned to service.
