Walter Benjamin Exley : Obituary

Mr. Walter Benjamin Exley, age 90, of Turtletown, TN, formerly of Savannah, GA passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014Mr. Exley was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the American Legion in Savannah, GA. He was a Veteran of W.W.II having served in the U.S.Air Force. He retired as a pipefitter with American Cynamide Chemical Company. He was preceded in death by parents, Van Soloman and Frances Simmons Exley. He was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. He was a man of integrity, compassion and generosity. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edith Stepp Exley of Turtletown, TN; children, Bob (Joie) Exley, Van Exley, Frances (Ray) Van Ennis, Debbie Crisp Exley, all of Turtletown, TN. Four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 6th at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Don Munn officiating. Pallbearers include Bob Exley, Van Exley, Ashley Exley, Riley Crisp, Jake Exley and Ray Ennis. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill, TN in charge of the arrangements.
