WFES Undergoes Safety Construction

Over a year after the elementary school horror that took place at Sandy Hook in Connecticut, Fannin County schools are still taking steps to improve security at its schools.Shortly after the tragedy in December 2012, Fannin County School Superintendent, Mark Henson worked with Assistant Superintendent, Art Hubbard, to draw plans of renovations to make schools safer for students and staff by limiting public access to students prior to checking in with the office staff.

West Fannin is currently undergoing those renovations. The office has been relocated further down the main hallway of the school. Secretary, Debbie Patterson, now has an office equipped with the latest technology of security camera monitors, buzzers, intercoms, DVRs and ore. As a whole, the school has updated security cameras that allow clearer images to be transmitted.

Construction is getting closer to completion. FYN has contacted Hubbard regarding the estimated date of completion and a final materials list. We will provide updates as we receive additional information.
