Panthers Pummeled in Rebels Route

The Fannin County High School Rebels wrestling team pummeled the Panthers of Union County 72-12. The Rebels route occurred in Union, in a three team Duals Meet. Fannin fell to Riverside 48-27 in the other match. The Fannin County Middle School Rebels wrestling team also made the trip, falling by six points, 48-42 to Union.The Rebels began the season with a trip to West Hall to compete in the Spartan Duals Tournament. Fannin went 1-4 in the tournament, posting a 42-39 win over Mount Vernon. The Rebels fell to Oconee, 69-12, to White Water 54-16, and lost a close match to Dawson, 36-45, with two forfeits, worth six points apiece, going to Dawson.

Blake Carroll, Devin Greene, and Matthew Seabolt all recorded pins in the Mount Vernon win. Carroll, Seabolt, and Caleb Chancey all went 4-1 on the day. Colton Carpenter had “huge match,” against Dawson according to head coach, Josh Snider.

The junior varsity took part in the Cherokee JV Scramble. Five Fannin wrestlers attended, with all five winning at least one match, and Cameron Pigott winning three of four matches.

A few days later the Rebels road to Union County, where the varsity would take part in dual matches with Riverside Military Academy and the host Panthers, while the middle school Rebels faced off with Union as well.

While the middle school lost a close one to Union, six different wrestlers all recorded wins, by pin: Landon Galloway; Dawson King; Malachi Johnson; Jordan Newman; Chris Collis; and Bradley Flowers.

The varsity wrestled Riverside first, falling 48-27; however, five wrestlers recorded wins, with Chancey and Ben Bruce recording pins. Seabolt picked up a major win, more than seven match points, worth four team points.

Next Fannin faced the Panthers. Pouncing on the home team early and often, the Rebels routed Union, 72-12. The Rebels wrestlers had their hands up after matches more than rap concert attendees.

Fannin won the first 12 matches before a Union pin, followed by a Fannin forfeit put the Panthers on the board.

The Rebels varsity will next compete at Buford High School in the Buford Duals, Saturday November 23rd at 9am, while the JV will compete at North Hall in the Trojan War, on the same day starting at 10am.
