The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Evelyn “Nanny B” Bearden, age 95 of Blue Ridge who passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Bearden was born in Fannin County, GA on April 15, 1918 to the late James Garfield and Jessie Lee Smith Davis. She had worked at Plaza Five and Ten Cent Store as a stocker and greeter. Mrs. Bearden was a member of the Macedonia Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Dock” Bearden; a son, Jimmy Bearden and granddaughters, Melinda Key and Barbara Bearden Whitener.
Survivors are four sons, Johnny Bearden of Cherry Log, GA, Bobby Bearden of Blue Ridge, GA, Gary Bearden of Blue Ridge, GA and Keith Bearden of Blue Ridge, GA; three daughters, Shirley Garrett of Blue Ridge, GA, Martha Ferrell of Blue Ridge, GA and Betty Key of Blue Ridge, GA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a large number of other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Macedonia Church of Christ with Brother Kent O’Dell, son, Bobby Bearden and grandson, Shannon Bearden officiating. Music will be by Macedonia Church of Christ congregational singing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery followed by a White Dove Release. Pallbearers will be Michael Key, Devell Farrell, Larry Chastain, David Bearden, Jace Gibbs, Shannon Bearden, Delane Bearden and Terry Bearden.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
