Fannin EMA assisted Gilmer County during the flooding again on Tuesday last week by sending a Swift Water Rescue Team consisting of 4 men and an inflatable raft. The team was staged at Gilmer’s Fire Station #1, but did not have to respond to any calls this time.

At about 7:00PM Sunday evening, Fannin County EMA was requested to assist in locating a major water leak in the Blue Ridge Water System that was rapidly draining the system faster than the treatment plant could keep up with. We responded with 15 Fire personnel to assist in the search. The leak was located by city police officers around midnight Sunday night and Blue Ridge Water Officials immediately began making the necessary repairs.

Fannin County Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Wolf Creek Rd on August 8, 2013 at approximately 9:45PM.
On arrival, firefighters found an out-building already burned down and smoldering. The owner had attempted to extinguish the fire with a garden hose without success. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. 15 firefighters along with Engine 2, Engine 14, Tanker 2, and Med 4 responded to the call.
