James Walter Burger, age 76 of Mc Caysville, GA passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013, at Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN. He was born Thursday, November 12, 1936 in Turtletown, TN and was the son of the late Manuel Burger and Belvie Jones Burger. He retired in 1996 at Levi Strauss as a cutter in the pant manufacturing department. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Burger.

Survivors include wife, Virginia Burger of McCaysville, GA, children, Melinda (Steve) Phillips of Blue Ridge, GA, Jimmy (Tammy) Burger of McCaysville, GA and DeEtta (Jay) Brooks of Newnan, GA; Step-daughter, Michele Watson of McCaysvile, GA; sister, Mary Burger of Benton, TN; grandchildren, Caleb (Tera) Phillips, Carrie Phillips, Amanda (Larry) Sisson, Andrew Burger, Tiffany (Michael) Messer, Justin Burger, Natalie Vicknair and Jessica Burger; great grandchildren, Emily Sisson, Micah Messer and Malachi Burger also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel Chapel with Eulogy by Rev. Junior Burger and Rev. Denny Hawkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Fritz Baugh, Jay Brooks, Junior Burger, Greg Panter, Steve Phillips and Larry Sisson. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 pm.
