New Student Registration Day Annoucement

Community

Below is a copy of the letter sent by Dr. Michael Gwatney, Director of Technology & Media Services for Fannin County Schools, concerning the school system’s upcoming new registration day:Principals:

Our school system will again offer a new student registration day prior to pre-planning. It has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your school’s student information specialist will schedule this as a summer workday, and you (or another administrator at your school) should schedule this day on the summer work calendar.

Please remember the purpose of this day is to register any new students not otherwise registered for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. Currently enrolled students, as well as other new students, including upcoming kindergarteners, who have already registered for SY 13-14 do not need to attend.

By bringing new families in earlier, the stress of trying to register during pre-planning or Open House will be reduced, and it will help you obtain more information on possible enrollment increases a couple of days prior to teachers returning from summer break. This will also provide the opportunity for our district to request transfer records sooner.

Teachers and other personnel who ordinarily conduct assessments, screenings, etc. during a new enrollment do not need to be on hand per any directive from this office. This day is intended to provide a head start on registration, and these other components of enrollment may be deferred to pre-planning. Should you choose to have any additional personnel on hand at your school that day to conduct assessments, etc., be sure to have those arrangements approved in advance through Mr. Henson’s office.

Please contact Ms. Hyde or me with any questions. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Michael Gwatney
