Mae Norwood : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Mae Grizzle Norwood, 78, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at her home.

Mae was born in Blairsville on July 31, 1934, a daughter of the late Leonard Grizzle and the late Ethel Harkins Grizzle. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Mae loved to work in her flower garden and loved spending time with her great grandson, Kade. She was a great animal lover, especially her cats, Little ‘Un and Yellar. Her husband, Dubert H. Norwood, passed away in 1983. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Odell Dispane and Pauline Tipton; and a brother, Jesse Grizzle.

Mae was dearly loved, and will be missed so much – especially by her family members: daughters, Shirley Dills and Linda Norwood, both of Blairsville; two sisters, Lorene Stogsdill and Helen Hilton, both of Blairsville; grandson and his wife, Aaron and Angie Dills; and great grandson, Kade Dills. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Blairsville. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Timmy Hilton, Terry Hilton, Josh Payne, Darren Jones, Aaron Dills, and Kade Dills. Mae will be laid to rest in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, next to her husband. The family will be meeting with friends on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013, at Cochran Funeral Home, between the hours of 6:30 until 9:00 p.m.
